How To Make A Candy Wrapper
Materials Needed
Computer Graphics/Crafting Program
- Graphics (your choice)
- Wrapper Template Of Your Choice
Optional
- Laminate (heat or cold)
- Clear Envelopes
Step 1: You need to have some type of graphics program, such as PrintMaster, Print Artist, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft
Word, Microsoft Publisher etc. Find a template for the wrapper size you want to make. There are many templates to br
found on the internet
Step 2: “Where do I put the picture and the words?” This is the most asked question about making candy bar
wrappers and that question is It’s really quite simple. Whatever template you have may or may not have instructions for where to place your
graphics and text. For the 1.55 ounce Hershey wrapper template (open ended) we have shown you where your graphics and text should go
on the front of the wrapper (the front, middle section of the template). The "back" of the wrapper is on the bottom of the
template.
That’s it! Those are the steps you need to use to make your wrappers.
You can use different papers, laminating plastic, clear envelopes as well as other embellishments (ribbons, bows, etc…) to make your wrappers look the best they can
be!
Now, how you choose to fill the space in your wrappers is up to you. You can be as creative as you want to be. People need
wrappers for all different types of occasions including:
- Birthday parties
- Weddings
- Bridal Showers
- Baby Showers
- Football Games
- Basketball Games
- School Events
- Etc……
If you look to the right of this text you’ll see some examples of how you can decorate candy wrappers!
Here are some words of wisdom about making candy wrappers and other items from crafters we have asked:
- "Always be sure to use graphics that you have the right to use. Don't use graphics that someone gave to you unless you know they
drew the graphics themselves. Don't "snag" graphics. It's just not the right thing to do."
- “I like to use Great White 37lb imaging and photo paper for the wrappers which is found for under $10 at Walmart, $12 at
Staples. At Walmart, it is NOT in the electronics section but near school supplies where the copy paper is set up. Copy paper, fancy
borders, cardstock etc, labels, and other computer print supplies. DO NOT buy the 24 lb. It's awful for wrappers. The Great White 37#
is 92 whiteness and gives the best photo and graphic results I've ever seen. -- Office Max and Office Depot also carry it and when I
can't find it locally, I'll order $50 of something and have it delivered to my door. Since the nearest one is an hours drive one way,
that works best for me time wise.
I also like to top laminate them. One of my friends who sells lots of wrappers told me to use the pouch, place the printed wrappers back to
back in the pouch and run it through. Trim around the outer edges, then cut out the wrappers. When you trim first, it allows the sheets to
separate for cutting. By running through the pouch laminator this way you are doing 2 sheets in the time it takes to do one - saving time and
steps so I laminate this way all the time.”
